  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Equipment

  • Small mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring spoons
  • skillet, oven, or grill
  • Tongs
  • Meat thermometer

Method

  1. In a small bowl, mix the cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper until well blended.
  2. If using immediately, prepare your choice of chicken (wings, tenders, or grilled).
  3. Generously coat the chicken with the spice mixture, ensuring an even distribution.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the honey and apple cider vinegar until well combined.
  5. Grill, bake, or fry your chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. During the last few minutes of cooking, drizzle the honey mixture over the chicken, allowing it to caramelize and stick.
  7. Remove from heat and let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a spicier version, increase the cayenne pepper or add chili flakes. This rub also works great on roasted veggies, shrimp, or even tofu. Leftover sauce can be refrigerated for up to a week.
