Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mix with mozzarella)
  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 oz each)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Equipment

  • skillet
  • wooden spoon
  • Baking sheet
  • parchment paper or silicone mat
  • Pastry brush
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook sausage, breaking it up, until browned and fully cooked (5–7 minutes). Drain excess fat. Stir in garlic and onion powder (if using). Let cool slightly.
  3. Unroll crescent roll dough and arrange triangles in a circle on the baking sheet with wide ends overlapping in the center. Press seams together to create a ring base.
  4. Spread sausage mixture around the center of the ring. Sprinkle cheese evenly over sausage. Fold pointed ends over filling and tuck underneath to seal.
  5. Brush top of ring with beaten egg for shine. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Cool slightly, garnish with parsley if desired, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

Customize with spicy sausage for heat, or use a blend of cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella. Serve with ranch, marinara, or honey mustard for dipping. Best enjoyed warm, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven.
