Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rolling pin
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Oven
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy. Add eggs and salt, then gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  2. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1–1.5 hours).
  3. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  4. Punch down the dough and roll into a 16x12-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter on top and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
  5. Roll dough tightly from the long edge into a log. Cut into 12 equal slices (1–1.5 inches thick).
  6. Place rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While baking, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to make glaze.
  9. Drizzle glaze over warm cinnamon bread before serving.

Notes

For a stronger flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the filling. If you prefer less sweetness, skip the glaze or reduce the sugar. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for later enjoyment.
