Ingredients

  • 1 baguette or loaf of crusty bread (French or Italian)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried parsley)
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Salt, to taste

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or spatula
  • knife
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). For crispier texture, broil for the last 1-2 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, combine softened butter, olive oil, garlic, parsley, Parmesan (if using), and salt. Mix well.
  3. Slice bread in half lengthwise or make thick slices, keeping loaf intact.
  4. Spread garlic butter mixture evenly over cut sides of bread.
  5. Place bread on baking sheet, buttered side up. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden. Broil last 1-2 minutes if desired.
  6. Slice into pieces and serve hot.

Notes

For extra cheesiness, top with shredded mozzarella before baking. Add chili flakes for heat or experiment with fresh herbs like oregano and basil. Best served immediately while warm and crisp.
